About the Organization:
Ballin’ for Peace New Social Workers
(NSW) Organization in collaboration
with KIASHA Entertainment LLC, based
in the Los Angeles area, provides
workshops, employment
opportunities, educational grants,
scholarships, health care services
and entertainment programs for all
ages. We will partner with other
major cities within the US and
abroad
to bring special activities for at
risk kids and youth in various
regions. Our programs have
been a great success and have
received reviews from news stations
(ABC and NBC), a
national magazine (SLAM), local
newspapers, politicians, and the Los
Angeles Police
Department. This event supported Los
Angeles County’s endeavor by
promoting change
from being one of the most violent
major cities to becoming one of the
safest larger cities
in the nation. The mayor stated that
gang homicides fell nearly 40% in
2007 as reported in
the LA Times issue of January 11,
2008.
Understanding
the positive impact of sports and
music toward youth, these events
will provide various forms of
entertainment. The conferences and
workshops will address the alarming
negative statistics in California,
nationally and around the world in
addition to
surrounding areas. Topics will
pertain to the violence in our
schools, substance abuse, teen
suicide, gang violence and more. We
invite community leaders,
politicians, pastors,
celebrities and business
professionals to assist and
facilitate workshops on the various
subject matters.
The
centerpiece of our events is a
celebrity basketball game, featuring
current and former
NBA players, street ball legends,
influential members of the
communities, actors,
actresses, musicians, etc... The
games are exceptionally
entertaining, which draws the
crowds to the events. Upon arrival,
information is available on
education, job training,
health care services, and crime
prevention/intervention.
